PDFico is a free online PDF toolkit that takes a different approach to document processing. While most PDF tools require you to upload files to remote servers, PDFico runs every tool entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your files stay on your device from start to finish.
Zero uploads. Zero tracking. Zero network requests during file processing. You can verify this yourself by checking your browser's Network tab.
PDFico was built out of frustration with existing PDF tools. Most online PDF services require uploading sensitive documents to unknown servers — contracts, financial statements, medical records, and personal files all passing through third-party infrastructure. Even services that claim to delete files after processing still have access to your data during the upload.
PDFico eliminates this problem entirely. By processing files locally in the browser, there is nothing to upload, nothing to delete, and nothing for anyone to intercept. It is especially useful for anyone working with confidential documents, using a company laptop, or simply valuing their privacy.
PDFico offers 9 PDF tools, all of which process files locally:
Eight of the nine tools are completely free with no limits, no signup, and no watermarks. The AI PDF Summarizer is a Pro feature available for a one-time £29.99 payment. Pro also removes ads and includes lifetime updates. There are no recurring subscriptions.
PDFico is built with vanilla JavaScript and uses open-source libraries for PDF manipulation. The AI Summarizer uses extractive summarization algorithms (TF-IDF sentence scoring) that run locally — no calls to ChatGPT, OpenAI, or any cloud AI service. The website is hosted on Netlify and served over HTTPS.
PDFico is built and maintained by Lee Stephenson, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom. If you have questions, feedback, or feature requests, feel free to get in touch.
